Amazon to buy Goodreads

Amazon , the behemoth company that was started by Jeff Bezos in 1994 and incorporated as ‘Amazon’ in 1995, was once an online bookstore but has expanded and diversified to become the world’s largest online retailer. Amazon presented the world with the Kindle E-reader in 2007 and has led the technological race that has resulted in changing the scene of book reading internationally. There is no doubt that Amazon knows what it is doing when it comes to innovative business practices as evidenced by its enormous growth and expansion; however, the purchase of Goodreads leads to the question: What will happen to Goodreads as a result?

For those of you who are not familiar with Goodreads, it is the  free social meeting place of readers and authors from around the world with millions of online visitors each month. Link to Goodreads: http://www.goodreads.com/
